BED BUGS

Although they may be hard to find because they hide well, bed bugs are big

enough to be seen with the naked eye. They look similar to an apple seed, both

in size and appearance. Bed bugs can be found in hotels, motels, dormitories, apartments, condos, private homes, and even in some public places, such as stores and offices.

Anyone can get bed bugs. Bed bugs do not jump. They spend most of their time hiding and are usually active at night. They generally avoid light and do not like to be disturbed. There is no evidence that shows bed bugs transmit disease. But bed bug bites can cause allergic reactions in some people, similar to a mosquito bite. Scratching the bite marks or picking the scabs can cause infections. People with very bad and/or repeated infestations can feel anxious, worried or ashamed.

TREATMENT

  • 1. Empty out room treated as if you are moving out.

  • 2. Remove all clothes from inside the drawers (you may leave all clothes in the closet)

  • 3. Remove all bed sheets from mattresses and wash with the hottest water possible

  • 4. Remove mattresses and box springs from the bed frame and place them against the wall, without moving the bed frame from its original place.

  • 5. It’s important that the floor be free and cleared of clutter, this will ensure access for our technician to have thorough access.

  • 6. Pull furniture at least two feet away from the walls and baseboards. This will help the exterminators treat those hard-to-reach areas where bed bugs most like to hide.

  • 7. Pet food dishes should be emptied, cleaned, and covered. Pet bedding should be laundered as thoroughly as your own. Fish tanks should also be removed from the premises during service.
